The Reform Temple of Rockland seeks an engaging, energetic, inspiring, and responsible adult to help create and grow our youth program. At RTR, we see the youth program, not as a separate entity from our Religious School, but as a partner and collaborator to help grow and deepen the connections between our kids and our community. This is a new position so there are plenty of opportunities to help shape and implement the future of our youth programming.
Youth Program Today
Currently, we have 3 youth groups:
Lil’ ReTRo - K-5 which is currently based around family programming.
ReTweens - 6-8 Grade
ReTRo - 9-12 Grade
Oversee all youth group programming for grades K-12
Provide leadership training to ReTRo’s board, and facilitate their success with their youth group
Guide the ReTRo board in planning and implementing social, cultural, and community service events for their peers
Find opportunities to engage the unengaged
Attend NFTY retreats and encourage RTR participation
Train and oversee the madrichim program for the Religious School
Teach in our Religious School
Be a Jewish role model
Maintain regular communication with the Director of Congregational Learning and the Youth Committee.
Develop all promotional materials for events
Foster relationships with our children, teens, and their parents.
Manage communication with children and parents
Work with other local Jewish community youth groups to foster relationships
Minimum skills and requirements:
Strong organizational skills
Minimum two years of experience working in youth engagement through teaching, Jewish youth work, camping or other relevant settings
Understanding of and commitment to the mission and values of the Reform Movement
Sensitivity to individuals with special needs, and experience creating inclusive environments
Ability to communicate appropriately with youth, parents, professional staff, and lay leaders
Have an understanding of NFTY and other URJ youth programming options
Skilled at event planning and logistics
Computer and social media savvy
*Confidence, patience, compassion, and outgoing
In addition to the above, the successful candidate will be a charismatic, energetic individual with great organizational skills who can envision creative approaches to engage our youth of all ages and their parents. They will be flexible and able to work collaboratively with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
