Camp Kaleidoscope Director

Provide Directorship of Camp Kaleidoscope (Camp K) (general day camp for 1st and 2nd graders), Camp K 3.0 (general day camp for 3rd graders) and Jr. Specialty Camp Programs (for 1st and 2nd graders) at Merfish Teen Center during the summer months, while camp is in session. Oversee the planning and organization of program and administration for all camps located at the Merfish Teen Center. This includes supervision and planning of all activities, coordinating and facilitating administrative needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. COMMUNICATION
a. Oversee all communication with parents

b. Answer parent questions and concerns

c. Check in daily with the main J Camps Office and the J Camps Director

d. Inform the J Camps Director of any camper or staff concerns

2. CAMP POLICIES AND DEVELOPMENT OF CAMP PROGRAM
a. Ensure campers and staff adhere to camp policies and procedures

b. Ensure that all programs, experiences, and interactions are of the highest quality
3. CAMP STAFF SUPERVISION
a. Create and oversee the Merfish Teen Center Camps Training schedule
b. Facilitate all schedule changes, vacation requests, and coverage issues
c. Make staff assignments
d. Supervise Assistant Camp Director and Camp K Program Director while delegating responsibilities to them
e. Evaluating (written and oral) all staff (counselors, directors, etc.) mid-summer and end of season.

f. Observe each staff member as he/she works with campers and other staff
g. Provide any needed guidance and direction to staff

h. Approve counselor and specialist supply requisitions keeping the budget in mind

i. Supervise and plan all during camp staff meetings

j. Participate in All Camp Staff Training
4. PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION
a. Supervise the overall camp program at the Merfish Teen Center
b. Manage the planning and the supervision of programs for field trips, special events, late nights and overnights, carnivals, meet the counselor events, and all-camp programs

c. Coordinate use of rooms and facilities including covered play area, courts, and fields

d. Facilitate the scheduling of all-camp programs and logistics regarding specialists, space, etc. for Camp K, Camp K 3.0, and Jr. Specialty Camps
e. Facilitate group assignments for campers

f. Maintain supply inventory and repurchase as necessary for camper snacks and crafts

g. Help ensure accuracy of camp rosters and daily attendance records
5. GENERAL ITEMS
a. Participate in weekly supervision meetings with J Camps Director
b. Sustain all paper work required to effectively administer camps at the Merfish Teen Center (e.g. medical forms and like paperwork for campers and staff)
c. Collect and file all camper and staff forms

d. Follow up with parents and staff on any missing forms.

e. See that safety standards are observed at all times

f. Handle problems with campers and document all injuries, issues and camper/staff problems. Documentation needs to be turned into the J Camps Director immediately
g. Seek help and advice from Camp Administration whenever needed
h. All other duties which need to be performed to facilitate the effective operation of the camp program

i. Help inventory all supplies at the end of the summer

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Minimum requirement of college degree in education, social work, or related field.
2. 4 years’ experience working with children required.
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
4. High energy, proactive, requiring little direction, takes responsibility.
5. Team oriented
6. Current certification in first aid and CPR or willing to get certified.
7. Willingness to be flexible and available to work occasional evenings and weekends as required for meetings and special events.
8. Experience in similar supervisory roles
9. Experience in the development and delivery of programs and activities for similar population
10. Available full-time June 3rd?- August 16th
11. Available 5-10 hrs/week in the months of April and May
12. Must be comfortable speaking to large and small groups of adults and children
