Jewish Education Director

Under the supervision of the program director, the education director oversees the formal and informal education on camp during times such as t’filot (prayer services), Jewish holidays, minor fast days, chugim (electives), birkat hamazon (grace after meals), eidah (unit) programming, and other relevant times. The education director works together with other tzevet (staff) members to ensure that chugim and all camp programs have educational content that is fun and exciting. The education director is expected to present themselves with integrity and dugma ishit (as a personal example) in and outside of camp.

Specific responsibilities of the education director:

- Teach and model proper behavior to madrichim (counselors)
- Implement new t’filot that are exciting and keep kids engaged for weekday and Shabbat services
- Look at program sheets to ensure the educational content of chugim
- Work with tzevet (staff) to develop educational content for chugim
- Provide feedback formally after chugim and/or programs to the relevant tzevet
- Work with groups of madrichim to plan and implement educational programs in a fun and exciting way that fits in with camp
- Update the program director and other leadership staff when needed regarding education on camp
- Maintain open and honest communication with the camp community
- Be present at camp-wide and eidah events
- Attend chugim to ensure that the educational programming is run well
- Work with the madrichim movilim to plan a formal educational program relevant to Israel that is age appropriate to the different eidot once a week
- Working with the mishlachat (Israeli staff) to ensure the Israeli presence on camp is fun, educational, and satisfactory to the camp community
- Perform other duties as assigned

To apply as an education director you must have experience in Jewish education or knowledge of Jewish values and traditions and have a connection to Israel.
