Education Director Maternity Leave Coverage

This position will overlap, support, and shadow the current director for 3-4 weeks

February 2, 2020 – May 17, 2020*
Education Director anticipated maternity leave to begin in the middle of March
15 weeks, including two weeks vacation: Spring Break (March 22-29) and Pesach Break ( April 7-April 15)

20-25 hours per week,
Tuesday: 2:00PM – 8:00PM
Wednesday: 1:30 PM – 6:30PM
Thursday : 9:15 am-11:00 am for Professional Staff Meeting
Sunday | 7:45 AM – 12:30PM

There are also some other evenings and Shabbatot Required
*It is expected that a candidate would also be available to meet with the current director, senior staff, and Hebrew School committee chairs for 3 – 5 hours during late January or early February, prior to the start of the position.

General Responsibilities (included but not limited to):
-Manage day-to-day logistics for the The Religious School, including coordinating with teachers, finding substitutes, and overseeing set-up of classrooms
-Supervise faculty, including reviewing lesson plans, classroom observation, and providing support as necessary
-Track teacher absences
-Coordinate with the Religious School Assistant about tracking student absences
-Coordinate monthly payroll with Religious School Assistant
-Serve as primary contact for parents for Religious School related programming and concerns
-Work with the School Committee to help coordinate and publicize programming
-Create weekly Religious School newsletter for Hebrew School families and weekly email for Faculty
-Communicate with B’nai Tikvah staff to coordinate calendar, flyers, website, and regular communication to the entire community
-Work with B’nai TIkvah facilities staff to ensure proper safety and set-up for Religious School classes and events
-Lead all faculty meetings
-Supervise and read all end of Year Report Cards
-Coordinate and help lead with Senior Staff K/3rd Grade Consecration and 7th Grade Bridging Ceremony
-Teach Grade Level Family Education Programs
-Programs will be pre- written by Education Director

-Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to manage and relate to students and their families, and a diverse faculty
-Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a team leader who can have a positive impact on both strategic and tactical initiatives
-Strong written and verbal communication
-Experience supervising and providing feedback
-Strong computer skills, including ability to learn or prior experience with membership database systems and mass email tools
-Engaging teaching experience
-Strong organizational skills demonstrated by staying on top of the details of managing all aspects of the program.
-Passionate about Jewish education and innovative learning methods
-Familiarity with Conservative Judaisim
-Demonstrates understanding and full support of the mission, vision, values and beliefs of the congregation and can demonstrate those values to others
