Youth Director/Youth Clergy

Ohev Sholom- The National Synagogue, a vibrant 300-member Modern Orthodox congregation in Washington, DC, is seeking a full time Youth Director/Youth Clergy member to plan and oversee a dynamic docket of youth programming and events. We’re looking for an individual who can organize and implement engaging programs and help cultivate a cadre of youth leaders.

Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with clergy and leadership team to create and implement dynamic youth programming related to Jewish holidays and themes
- Oversee engaging Shabbat/Holiday morning groups for shul youth (toddlers through teens)
- Innovate exciting programming for middle-school and high-school cohorts
- Organize, train, and inspire teen group leaders
- Connect with families to make sure programming is meeting their needs
- Liaise with other organizations on possible joint programs
- Plan and run weekly afternoon/evening programming, “Shorashim” and “Anafim” for preschool through 5th grade to enrich Jewish learning
- Oversee the planning of the synagogue’s Camp Kibbutz summer day camp
- Oversee the bi-monthly “pickle” minyan
- Plan and run monthly meetings for bar/bat mitzvah aged youth
- Work with office staff to coordinate logistics and supplies
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree required, preferably in a related field
- Experience working in Jewish education
- Experience creating youth programming
- Charismatic, welcoming demeanor
- Can-do attitude
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize

This position is full-time exempt, working closely with the clergy and reporting to the Executive Director. It includes attendance on Shabbat/Holidays and during weekday afternoon/evening programming. Benefits include health, dental, and vision coverage, and access to a 403b plan. Salary commensurate with experience, qualifications, and capacity to perform all aspects of the job.
