Video Production Director


Temple’s VPD is responsible for overseeing the video team and all content (original or acquired) for worship services and special events at Temple Israel so that congregants can connect to God, prayer, community and Jewish tradition. We are seeking a naturally motivated storyteller. The gift sets important to the fulfillment of this position include creativity, technical expertise, leadership and strong organizational skills. Responsible for establishing/maintaining the bar of excellence in the technical execution of all Temple Israel videos.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-Programs and operates (or manages the oversight of) video switcher and directs camera crew through live production of all weekend worship services & special events
-Oversees and troubleshoots the streaming video system
-Creates videos for weekend services, special events, conferences, concerts and productions as schedule allows
-Produces promotions, commercials and testimonials as schedule allows
-Determines time and budget needed for videos
-Prepares background slides for worship songs, announcements, sermons; works with the communications team as needed to produce slides and graphics
-Keeps up with current design trends, video editing and animation techniques for implementation in videos
-Manages technical assets at Temple Israel
-Keeps control room area current by presenting a professional working environment & maintaining accurate equipment inventory
-Works with COO on any technical needs or equipment purchases
-Keeps accurate paperwork for warranty and maintenance issues
-Manages and performs maintenance schedule for all video equipment
-Researches and develops new products and making new project recommendations to COO

Volunteer Development:
-Creates and trains volunteer teams to cover simpler events or content
-Develops systems to ensure that all volunteers are equipped and empowered for service
-Builds rapport with team members to influence growth and creativity

-Reports to the COO
-Works with lead clergy for each service or project
-Supervises the Video Operator
-Interacts frequently with the Audio Operator, Director of Communications, Social media Coordinator, Music Production Coordinator

-Passion and imagination for creative storytelling
-Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in video production, or the equivalent of 5+ years of related experience
-Proven experience with HD cameras and lenses; proven experience in the proper use of composition, technique, color, style, and movement. Independent shooting experience required
-Proficiency in live video production, video switcher, camera, matrix router, recording gear, and digital video equipment -- Final Cut Pro, Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and MS Office
-Experience with film-style field lighting
-Knowledge and experience with proper field audio techniques, including mic type selection and placement. Ability to troubleshoot audio problems and sweeten in postproduction
-Detail oriented, good editing, writing, punctuation and proofreading skills necessary
-Experience recruiting, developing, and deploying volunteer teams
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Flexibility in scheduled work hours based upon special events and regular weekend services
-Ability to fulfill the physical, mental and emotional requirements of the position, and work within the necessary work environments,
