Teaching Assistant

MetroWest Jewish Day School (MWJDS) seeks an innovative, energetic, and dedicated candidate to serve as a Teaching Assistant for the Pre-K/K class for the 20-21 school year. MetroWest Jewish Day School is a Pre-K to Grade 8 community Jewish day school that celebrates pluralism and diversity. MWJDS fosters the personal growth of each child through a multi-faceted, individualized, and dynamic 21st-century approach to learning. Our student community actively engages in the comprehensive exploration of both secular and Jewish curricula, weaving together ancient texts and modern perspectives. MWJDS inspires our students to excel in the world as knowledgeable and responsible members of the diverse Jewish community.
The Teaching Assistant will help to implement the curriculum of in-person classes led by MWJDS teachers. The hours are 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Monday thru Thursday and 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Assistants are expected to adhere to the school's health protocols at all times.

Teaching Assistant will assist in the Pre-K/K class, including independent coverage and facilitation of small cohorts of students. They will:
• Implement classroom norms established by the lead teacher
• Assist in activities as designed by the lead teacher with individuals or small groups
• Help with class and material preparation
• Facilitate project work with individuals or small groups of students
• Support remote instruction when needed
• Supervise recess, lunch and activities in and out of classroom
• Work with smaller groups of students to clarify their understanding of the material
• Attend team and faculty meetings, where appropriate (these meetings may occur after 2:30 p.m.)

Teaching Assistant will be fully engaged in the life of the school and will be included in professional learning opportunities, be provided feedback and participate in our faculty program.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Prior experience working with [K-8] students in an educational environment is highly desirable
• Experience and confidence with a variety of technologies preferred
• Preferred CPR and First Aid certification

Pay & Benefits:
$20/hour
Benefits include: health insurance, short term disability, long term disability, life insurance, sick time and personal time, and early dismissal on Fridays.
