A Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit international think tank/media research organization focusing on the Middle East and Israel is seeking an experienced editor.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience (at least five years, 10 preferred) as an editor and writer. MUST be able to accurately edit U.S. native-speaker-level English reports, as well improve reports by writers with more limited proficiency in those languages. Will be comfortable with collaborative work with colleagues spanning the globe, and must be able to show flexibility in working hours and occasionally on weekends, according to breaking news and events as they happen. Additionally, must be a team player willing to assist with other organizational priorities as they come up.
Preferences include a B.A. in English, Journalism, or related area of study, with background or studies in Middle East topics. Familiarity with AP Stylebook/AMA Manual of Style is a must, as our house style is based on these. Should be able to multi-task several projects, prioritize, and meet deadlines. Must be organized and detailed-oriented. Self-motivation is essential, as is punctuality. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required, as well as a willingness to learn basic website posting.
