The administrative assistant/communications associate will be the hub of the o?ce sta? at Temple Emanuel. This position will report to the Executive Director and will work closely with senior sta?, clergy, lay leaders, and congregants and performs diversi?ed administrative and communications support. The administrative assistant/communications associate is someone who cares deeply about non-pro?t work and Jewish communal life and making the synagogue experience the best it can be for our congregants.
Key Administrative Responsibilities:
-Prepare weekly programs and materials for Shabbat.
-Maintain member database including membership information, dedications and yahrzeits.
-Attend staff meetings and takes detailed minutes.
-Provide support for temple events such as weekly meetings, special programs, or holidays as needed.
-Serve as point person between executive director and lay leaders and cohort groups to ensure details regarding programs and events are covered and executed.
-General of?ce and administrative support.
Key Communications Responsibilities:
-Prepare all temple correspondence: weekly mailings and e-blasts, monthly bulletin, event information, large mailings, reminders, and all other communications.
-Build a social media strategy in partnership with the program director and execute our online strategy.
-Maintain the synagogue calendar.
-Interact in a positive, professional manner on behalf of Temple Emanuel with congregants and members of the community via phone, e-mail, and mail.
-Provide information by answering questions and requests and/or routing to the appropriate party.
-2-3 years of marketing experience, including social media, email marketing, design, and/or other related skills.
-3-5 years of administrative or of?ce management experience.
-Exceptional writing, editing, and communications skills.
-Experience with constant contact (or other email service provider), Microsoft suite, and database management systems.
-Must have familiarity with Jewish communal services and Reform Judaism.
-Quick and creative thinker, works well with a team, ability to juggle competing priorities.

-Enjoys working directly with synagogue members and prospective members to provide understanding and support for their individual needs, including personal and ?nancial.

-Strong verbal and written communication skills to support the needs of the board, staff, and congregants.
-Ability to work in a complex, fast-moving environment.
We will consider applications for remote work from exceptional candidates. Priority will be given to those who live in the mid-Atlantic states and are able and willing (post-COVID!) to come on occasion to South New Jersey.
