Youth Engagement Director

Temple Beth Am, a 1,500 member congregation in Pinecrest (Miami), Florida is searching for an outgoing, dynamic, energetic individual to serve as the Temple Beth Am Youth Engagement Director. This position is responsible for implementing social, religious, cultural, formal, informal and experiential educational programming for kids and teens in grades K – 12. Reports to the Lifelong Learning Director and maintains a supervisory role over part-time youth advisors.

The Youth Engagement Director will serve in a variety of capacities including, but not limited to the following:

Education
• Engage and build relationships with new and participating children, teens, and families in current youth programs
• Incorporate relevant Jewish content into all youth engagement programs
• Be courageous to think out of the box and implement new ideas
• Mentor teen leaders in accomplishing youth group goals including weekly peer-led programs
• Support pre-teens and teens in their personal and Jewish journey
• Plan and execute elementary age group youth programs including monthly meetings, retreats, outings, etc.
• Supervise and educate Madrichim (guide/counselor) during Religious School, including implementing leadership training programs

Operations
• Supervise middle school youth group advisor in the planning and implementation of programs
• Work with Religious School, Day School, Administration and Clergy to integrate youth into all aspects of Temple life
• Lead youth engagement fundraising opportunities including annual Camp Jenny fundraiser
• Create strategies to enhance and retain youth department membership
• Supervised by Lifelong Learning Director with a team-oriented approach
Community Leader
• Facilitate teen participation in NFTY and local Jewish youth events
• Collaborate with local Jewish youth professionals
• Promote URJ summer camping experiences
• Promote and participate in congregational and community events
• Establish opportunities with Jewish teens in the area and in different schools to become involved in Jewish life

Degree/Experience:
• Bachelor Degree in relevant field
• 2-3 years’ work in a Jewish communal organization (camping or Jewish youth movements preferred)
• Excellent relationship building skills
• Ability to manage time and multiple projects
• Good written and oral communication skills
