The Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan is seeking an exceptional individual to serve as its Chief Program Officer, reporting directly to the Executive Director and sitting on the leadership team. As one of the premier JCCs in the United States and in the heart of Manhattan’s Upper West Side, the JCC’s programs reach thousands of people each day with the mission of helping to shape Jewish life in the 21st Century.
This is a unique moment in Jewish life and in the life of our JCC. Following months of virtual programming, we are poised to reboot. We seek a special professional who brings fresh eyes and a capacity to help us rethink the vision and mission of the JCC.
The JCC's Chief Program Officer is responsible for setting the overall vision and direction for the depth and breadth of JCC program offerings in pursuit of the JCC's mission, vision and goals.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Supervise all directors of JCC’s Centers of Excellence.
Facilitate the development and implementation of a strategic vision for the JCC’s programming.
Support the Center Directors’ work with Center Advisory Boards, comprised of lay leaders who help to shape each center.
Represent the programming needs of the JCC within the JCC leadership team
Work in direct partnership with Chief Development Officer to secure needed philanthropic resources to support key program.
Work in direct partnership with Center Directors and Chief Finance Officer to support the sound financial management of all JCC program areas.
Partner with the Chief Marketing Officer to form coherent messaging strategy for individual program areas and the institution as a whole.
Coordinate and support the professional development of, collaboration between and internal communication with programming staff.
Support Center Directors in navigating critical JCC functions related to programming, including fundraising and marketing.
Serve as liaison with the community (in partnership with Center Directors) to ensure programming continues to be responsive to and resonant with the JCC’s broad target audience(s)
Bachelor’s degree required.
Advanced degree preferred in Jewish Studies, Not-For-Profit Management or related field.
Meaningful and in-depth track record of steady professional advancement in the field of non-profit program development and management, preferably within a Jewish communal organization. Prior senior director level position(s) required.
Managerial experience, including direct leadership of program professionals, teachers, and clerical support staff.
Demonstrated track record of motivating and energizing others, both paid professionals and volunteers, to share in and work toward a common vision.
Superior written and verbal communication skills.
Clear and well-defined vision for, and commitment to, the unique role that Jewish Community Centers play in the building of meaningful Jewish community
Outstanding judgment and discretion in handling sensitive matters.
Demonstrates integrity and positive attitude.
An enthusiastic, energetic, creative, flexible leader who can juggle multiple conflicting priorities and move rapidly from one project to another all while maintaining a sense of humor and a sense of perspective
Position requires flexibility as programmatic needs span weekends and evenings.
Salary: $150,000 - $200,000, commensurate with experience
