The Founding Head of School of The Oasis School in Scottsdale, Arizona, will be a person of vision, integrity, educational expertise at the high school level, highly motivated with endless energy, supreme communication and organizational skills, and possess a deep understanding of Jewish values and Jewish community. The successful candidate will also be able to “tell the story” of Oasis thereby inspiring families to join the pioneering class, inspiring donors to support the school’s vision, and guiding the board toward the fulfillment of their dream for a Jewish community high school in the Greater Phoenix Metropolitan area.
A deep understanding of the Oasis mission and ensure that the school’s mission guides all aspects of school creation.
Develop a clear and inspiring vision of what will constitute an Oasis graduate, i.e. what will they know, do, and value.
Hire and supervise all Oasis faculty. Inspire the faculty to execute the school’s educational vision. Mentor faculty, oversee and design ongoing faculty and staff evaluations and ensue opportunities for professional growth in alignment with Oasis Mission, Vision, and Codes of Conduct.
Provide regular support of faculty in the classroom during the inaugural first year, and every year thereafter, to maintain clarity around Teaching and Learning standards for Oasis.
Create and supervise all school organizational structures such as marketing, student recruitment, financial resource development, educational teams, facilities, office, and maintenance personnel.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all students and Oasis personnel.
Be a person who “lives” the school’s story and values with authenticity and energy, thereby engendering a sense of dedication and gravitas to the community.
Collaborate closely with the school’s governing board, and with the wider Jewish and secular communities to ensure positive and sustainable relationships with donors, school families, students, mentors, national Jewish and secular educational organizations and resources, and local communal organizations. Educate the Oasis Board to ensure its understanding of the Oasis educational model and garner its continuing support. Be a presence in the community by attending communal meetings, fundraisers, and other events so as to promote Oasis throughout the Greater Phoenix Metropolitan area.
Collaborate with educational consultants, including, but not limited to, experts in the area of student recruitment, teaching and learning, accreditation, school policy and procedures and development, or fundraising. Supervise the execution and refinement of the unique Educational Model of the Oasis School. Create an organization model that ensures regular communications and collaborations among all educational and staff personnel. Maintain a supportive presence at educational and staff meetings.
In collaboration with the Oasis Board and finance staff, oversee the development and management of the school’s annual budget and spending plan based upon the core values of the school.
Ensure the confidentiality of all school business.
The qualifications of the Head of School include:
* A demonstrated commitment to innovative and evolving education and an expressed commitment and respect for Jewish learning and
* Experience, in a leadership capacity, at a high school or an equally-relevant educational center.
* Preferred Education: A Master's degree or its equivalent in a subject area relevant to Education.
* Stellar communication skills, written and spoken.
* Knowledge and capability in the use of current educational software and technology.
* Availability of schedule: The Oasis School is a start-up and will require a Head of School who is wholly committed to this project.
