Summary: The Assistant Director is part of the year-round professional camp management team that creates a vision for, designs, and implements the Camp Wise experience for campers, camper families, staff members, alumni, and rental groups. The Assistant Director assists in the overall management of camper recruitment, engagement, and retention including year-round programming, staff recruitment, training, engagement, and supervision, the development of the summer program and budget, and alumni outreach and development. The position requires full time residence at Camp Wise during the summer months and for specific programming during the offseason.

-Represent the agency and provide the highest quality of customer service to the individuals and groups with whom you come into contact

-Wear Mandel JCC Staff ID badge and attend appropriate staff meetings
-With the Camp Director, set the strategic vision and plan for recruitment, retention, and marketing
-Maintain contact with camper families as needed regarding all camper experiences as a component of camper care in collaboration with Infirmary Manager, Social Worker, and Camp Director
-Plan and implement Camp Wise engagement/retreat events for campers, staff, families, and alumni including reunions, winter overnights, ---Alumni reunion, Women's Weekend, Family Camp, Family Fun Day, etc. for the purposes of engagement, retention, and recruitment.
-Oversee the development of, manage, and maintain all summer programs and schedules to ensure the smooth operation of the day-to-day summer camp program.
-Manage and maintain program areas, equipment, and inventory as required by the Board of Health and ACA Standards.
-Plan all off-site, adventure programs to secure reservations, transportation, and fulfill other logistical tasks as necessary.
-Develop and implement a domestic and international staff recruitment plan including advertising, domestic and international hiring fairs, and maintain campus contacts to recruit and assemble a skilled and committed staff team.
-Coordinate and assist in the process of interviewing and hiring new and returning summer staff applicants. Conduct performance reviews and evaluation of summer supervisory staff members.
Provide a meaningful experience for Camp Wise summer staff that emphasizes their own personal growth and development.
Budget Management & Fundraising:
-Create and implement a system for all purchasing including pre-camp program area purchasing, camp gear & swag, and in-season program supply requests.
-Collaborate with Camp Director on creation and implementation of Camp Wise annual campaign and additional giving opportunities, in-kind donations, and initiatives.
-Manage year-round alumni engagement including but not limited to: social media/marketing, events, and campaigns.
Marketing & Communication
-Maintain an engaging and interactive online presence for current and prospective campers, including the Camp Wise website, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, social media platforms, etc.
-Manage & maintain Camp Wise presence throughout JCC building and Jewish community (locally and regionally).
-Serve as key staff member to carry out yearly marketing plan using creative and innovative strategies.
-Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
-Bachelor's Degree in Education, Recreation, Jewish Studies, Psychology, Social Work, or Business
-Three to five years of experience in operations management in a camping or similar environment
-Strong presentation, leadership, and motivation skills
-Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media applications like Facebook and Instagram. Knowledge of WordPress platform a plus
-Strong knowledge of Jewish culture, heritage, and traditions
-Strong organizational and time management skills
-Ability to communicate clearly to both children and adults
-Proven writing and interpersonal communication skills
-Strong decision making and problem solving skills
-Ability to work well under pressure to manage multiple concurrent tasks, re-prioritize work, and be flexible while meeting tight deadlines
-Able to lift up to 30 pounds
