Communications Associate @ Milken Community Schools

Communications Associate

The Communications Associate reports to the Director of Communications and Public Relations
and serves as an integral part of the External Relations team. This role is critical to Milken as this
person will work with both internal and external stakeholders including parents, students, lay
leaders, faculty, vendors, the press and community members. Excellent communication skills
and a customer-centric passion are essential as this person will support the marketing,
communications and PR efforts for Milken. 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Branding Implementation  
-Assure that all campus partners are utilizing the brand correctly and per brand guidelines 
-Manage vendor partnerships for production of branded materials such as merchandise and promotional items, and printed materials
-Manage projects with outside designers, ensuring the items are on brand 
-Work with Milken Parents Association (MPA) on managing the Milken Merch swag line
including sales, marketing, inventory management and tracking 
-Manage campus signage production 
 
Communications   
- Edit website content 
- Create landing pages as needed
- Update Resource Board tiles as needed by Milken department input 
- Create registrations for events and manage RSVPs (reporting to departments as needed)
- Update photos on the website on a regular basis
- Post to social media and monitor responses 
- Manage lay leader meetings as needed 

Special Projects 
- Marketing and communication management for special projects and initiatives such as
Milken’s 30th anniversary 
- Manage Lifecycle program celebrating and commemorating events such as births and
deaths  
- Assist in implementation of strategic plan including things like managing a student
ambassador program, press relations, and events 
- Lead the External Relations implementation of the Milken Way program across campus
(customer approach to creating “story moments” at Milken) 

QUALIFICATIONS
- Commitment to Milken’s mission.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
- A Bachelor’s degree. 
- Minimum 3 years experience.
- InDesign and/or Photoshop experience is a plus. 
- Basic knowledge of HTML is a plus. 
- Knowledge of Blackbaud, Hubspot and/or Mail Chimp a plus.
- Entrepreneurial and collaborative approach to marketing.
- A team player who is flexible, highly detail oriented, able to multi-task easily, and has
impeccable follow-through on projects.
