Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
? Plan and implement a comprehensive guidance and counseling program that
addresses student’s academic, career, personal, social, and emotional
? Observes and listens to the culture of the school, assess the needs as a whole
and design a comprehensive counseling program that will service all students.
? Mentors teachers in regard to dealing with difficult behavioral, emotional or
academic issues that they may have regarding a particular student.
? Works with students and families to empower them to learn skills to manage their
own personal, social, and academic development.
? Guides individual students to plan, monitor, and manage their academic,
personal, and social development.
? Mediates between students and teachers.
? Develops student success plans that encompass emotional, behavioral, and
academic needs and works with the students, families, and teachers to achieve
? Facilitates grade level student focused meetings.
? Arranges and conducts parent/teacher conferences as necessary.
? Provides individual and group sessions to assist with academic, emotional, social
and personal issues relating to students.
? Provides individual, developmental, preventative, remedial, short term and/or
? Identifies community and school resources, maintains lists and makes referrals
? Interfaces with the admissions department in interviewing new students,
arranging for placement tests, proper scheduling and coordinating their
orientation to school.
? Reviews, develops and implements guidance related curriculum for social,
emotional and cognitive development.
? Other duties may be assigned
