Met Council is America’s largest Jewish charity dedicated to serving the needy. Our network of 75 food pantries, affordable housing sites and JCCs provide services directly in neighborhoods across New York.
The role of the Food Pantry Coordinator is to manage the food pantry at 5361 Preston Court, Brooklyn, New York. The Food Pantry Coordinator will be primarily responsible for receiving and ordering items for the pantry, assisting clients with the digital system and onboarding satellite sites associated with the Preston Court pantry.
Maintain pantry inventory for bi-weekly distributions
Receive and stock items on shelves and in digital system.
Register new clients and maintain existing clients in digital system.
Onboard clients to order food items independently via digital pantry.
Support existing clients with ordering.
Fulfill client food orders.
Coordinate volunteers onsite as available and appropriate.
Create client menus and update as necessary.
Onboard new sites working with Preston Court Pantry
Ensure data integrity in the digital system
Generate and deliver reports to stakeholders as needed
Attention to detail, customer focused, self starter, motivated, planning and organization, good communication skills.
Skill and Education:
Bachelor’s degree preferred
At least two years of work experience preferred
Good computer literacy
Good motivation and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational skills and the capability to multi-task
Language Skills: Fluent in English, Bilingual preferred.
Mathematical Skills: Basic
Reasoning Ability: Ability to function effectively within a busy environment and to make appropriate and safe decisions
Required Constantly: Walking, sitting, grasping, bending, stooping, squatting, computer input, finger dexterity and coordination of hand, eye and foot. Lifting boxes weighing between up to 30 lbs to stock shelves or tables
Required Frequently: Standing and climbing stairs; carrying laptop & files (approx. 8-10 lbs)
Required Occasionally: Reaching above the shoulder, and lifting 5-25 pounds, pushing and pulling
