This role requires a high level of creativity, independent thinking, attention to detail, journalistic or creative writing, and project management skills. The results produced by a successful candidate will help us strengthen our existing relationships, cultivate new members, increase interest in our schools and camps, and project the quality and excellence that characterize our people and programs.
? The communications and content manager role at Wilshire Boulevard Temple is primarily a content creation and platform management position. The work encompasses the Temple, its elementary and nursery schools, its camps, and its community social service center. There are many different audiences to reach and many different needs to be met.
? As a member of a small team, this is a hands-on position where resourcefulness and ingenuity are assets. Comfort with technology, especially website CMS (our websites are on a Finalsite), social media platforms, analytic tools, video editing, photography, and basic graphics software such as Photoshop and InDesign, will be extremely helpful.
? The content specialist is responsible for the production of our monthly print bulletin, daily programming emails, and weekly newsletter. This includes gathering information, maintaining an accurate program calendar, writing short program descriptions, brief newsletter stories, and proofreading.
? Write press releases, media alerts, biographies, and background stories. Maintain media and influencer lists; cultivate media relationships.
? Maintain and refresh website content to keep current, relevant, and accurate. Spot issues, offer solutions, fix or ask for help.
? Know our audiences, their needs, their interests, the value we bring to their lives, and how much they matter to the strength and vibrancy of our community.
? Identify and develop stories appropriate and potentially unique to each media platform.
? Be curious, inquisitive, interested, and a good listener.
? Collaborate with others to develop ideas. Help others as you hope they will help you.

BA/BS degree or equivalent working experience.
Experience producing content for the web specifically, as well as channel-specific knowledge
Past experience building audiences either online or offline.
A dual-minded approach: You’re highly creative and an excellent writer but can also be process-driven, think scale, and rely on data to make decisions.
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Photoshop and InDesign), and basic website management.
