Overview and purpose:
The Communications & Special Projects Associate will be a critical member of the WRJ team primarily responsible for managing marketing and communications operations, ongoing advocacy initiatives in conjunction with WRJ leadership, and management of special projects to further the mission and impact of the WRJ.
You are passionate about the work and mission of Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ). You have expertise in marketing and communications and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. You are a dynamic team member who knows when to lead and when to follow to maximize your impact on any project you are assigned to. You are detail-oriented and extremely organized. You are comfortable with technology and learning new skills and systems. You have a strong customer service-oriented attitude and can interact well with diverse groups and individuals. You bring a “whatever it takes” mentality and are ready to roll up your sleeves to get the job done and do it well.
Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ) is the women’s affiliate of the Union for Reform Judaism, the central body of Reform Judaism in North America. Established in 1913, WRJ now represents about 35,000 women in over 350 women’s groups in North America and around the world. Its mission is to strengthen the voice of women worldwide and empower them to create caring communities, nurture congregations, cultivate personal and spiritual growth, and advocate for and promote progressive Jewish values. WRJ educates and trains sisterhood and congregational leaders in the areas of membership, fundraising, leadership skills, advocacy for social justice, and innovative and spiritual programming.
What you’ll do as our Communications & Special Projects Associate:
Manage and implement communication projects and strategies to further the mission of the WRJ.
Draft and edit communication copy for a wide range of uses and audiences.
Develop and manage the web and social media presence of the WRJ.
Manage webinars, presentations and reports/manuals, and advocacy materials and resources.
Partner with WRJ leadership on the creation, execution, monitoring, and evaluation of annual advocacy plan and operations associated with public and private events.
Manage special projects to further the mission of the WRJ.
Partnering with WRJ staff, lay leadership and WRJ constituents to identify and define project requirements, scope, objectives and manage project schedules, resources, equipment, and information.
What You'll Bring:
Proven work experience and success as a communications or marketing associate or similar role
Knowledge of communication and/or marketing best practices, tools and techniques
Web editing/HTML skills, Drupal experience preferred
Solid computer skills including office 365, CRM Systems, and graphic design skills.
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Works well in a team environment?and can take direction from others
Highly flexible and adaptable?
Preferred knowledge of the core values and work of Women of Reform Judaism and the Reform Movement??
This job is based in New York City at WRJ’s Headquarters and includes occasional weekend and evening travel to meetings and programs.
