JVS Human Services helps Metro Detroiters and their families maximize their potential by providing counseling training, and supportive services for people with disabilities, job seekers, seniors, and others in need. Build strategic connections with employers, area businesses, and agencies to encourage their use of JVS employment-related services including but not limited to job posting, participating in networking events, and training.
Attend area networking and business events to build departmental and agency network of participating businesses. Market JVS business-related services such as HR Solutions Group and eCO as appropriate.
Complete data entry of job information into database and maintain database systems as necessary for job postings. Use social media to advertise jobs. Maintain updated contact information for partnering employers in database.
Use contacts and other resources to seek appropriate connections for job seekers for informational interviews, job openings, and mentoring. Utilize placement and job development techniques to develop employment opportunities consistent with participants’ interest and abilities.
Maintain a database of community members willing to be available for mentorship and informational interviews.
Plan and coordinate events to engage and assist businesses, including but not limited to “Business Connections” events, hosting networking meetings and educational programs, and working with community partners for joint programming.
Present workshops on employment topics to job seekers.
Participate in agency job developer meetings.
Participate and assist in all activities of the Business and Career Services Department.
Serve on Agency committee(s) as appointed.

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Human Resource Development or related field preferred.
Two to four years’ experience in sales, business development, job placement and/or job development.
Good interpersonal skills for communication with job seekers, employers, staff, and the public.
Ability to establish and maintain ongoing relationships with business owners and their representatives.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft programs, experience with databases is a plus.
Composition skills sufficient to prepare required reports. Intermediate to advanced level of proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite and web-based databases.
Ability to work flexible hours, including some nights and weekends, in community and facility settings, as well as traveling to local sites.
8:00 - 5:00pm, Monday – Friday (Hours and days can vary)
