MJE seeks a part to full time Director of Education (teacher and programmer) to inspire and help young Jewish professionals grow spiritually and religiously. This is a senior outreach, educator and program position.
The candidate should be able to teach Torah classes and speak publicly on a variety of subjects, program a variety of programs (classes, dinners, socials) and enjoy connecting to people and impacting their Jewish lives.
This person will be a positive role model and able to inspire and cultivate relationships with participants who attend programs to develop their connection to the community and to Torah and religious practice.
Teaching, programming and one on one mentor meetings are integral parts of this position.
Lead and teach - Shabbat, Holidays, and Weekday classes
Produce Educational materials
Act as Synagogue Gabbai/Synagogue Spiritual Director
Lead Minyan, give Sermon
Assist with Shabbat and Holiday hospitality
Weekly attendance at Shabbat (3/4 weekends a month)
3 Friday night Onegs/year
3 Shalosh Seudot /year
1 Friday night dinner / month
Oversee Shabbat Scholars-in-residence program
Teach afternoon Parsha class 20x per year
Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur
Act as Synagogue Spritual Director (train, schedule, and assure quality of balei tokeah and chazzanim)
Lead 2 breakout sessions
Sukkot - attendance, selling ritual items for Holiday lulav/etrog, lead and run the services and provide hospitality for community
Simchat Torah - lead, teach, ruach
Purim - run Chagigah, Megillah and Seudah
Pesach - oversee the sale of chametz, recruit and Host Seder (either night)
Shavuot - run all-night learning programming
Tisha b’Av - run Eicha/Kinot/Slideshow program
Shabbat morning class 2x month
Shabbat afternoon (monthly)
Teach weekly Wednesday nights
Weekly meeting/learning with participants and mentor
Co lead Israel trip
Help run Wednesday night learning program
