The first time you walk into a Moishe House a cheery housemate greets you at the door. They walk you into the living room, offer you a snack, and introduce you to a bunch of friendly young adults. You can smell dinner being cooked in the kitchen, see the wall of photos from past events, hear the Spotify “Dinner Party” playlist in the background, and feel the fun, relaxed atmosphere with this new group who, like you, are happy to be in a place where they belong, looking to meet new people, and excited you took a chance and showed up.
Moishe House empowers young adults to create their own dream Jewish communities. A Moishe House is led by a group of volunteer community builders who open their doors to twenty-somethings to create spaces of connection, new friends, and engaging events all at no cost to the participant. A Moishe House experience (e.g. a passover seder, arts and crafts night, dance party) will look different in every one of the 118 Moishe Houses worldwide because the atmosphere, rituals, food, and location are determined by the residents.
Moishe House is searching for a Community Manager in the Midwest region to empower our community builders to be leaders in creating interesting, meaningful, welcoming experiences to best serve the young adult Jewish community in their city. A Community Manager is a member of the Resident Support team and is typically responsible for 10-15 houses and 35-45 community builders, and develops a strong knowledge about young adult life in their communities.

We seek employees from diverse backgrounds and life experiences to join our staff team located in the United States, South America, Europe, and the Former Soviet Union. The Moishe House team works together through deep collaboration, investing in relationships, and continuous innovation.
Who you are and what you’ll do:
- You’re a great coach and mentor. You guide Moishe Houses in your region create meaningful, well attended events and strong communities through brainstorming, setting and achieving goals with residents, celebrating success, problem solving, and creating and maintaining meaningful relationships with community members and local partners. (30%)
- You’re personable. You love building, maintaining, and stewarding relationships with others. You’re the one who can and does strike up a conversation with anyone – on the train, at the local coffee place, or at a festival. And it’s not just small talk; you enjoy learning about people and what motivates them. You’ll develop individual relationships with Moishe House residents through remote interactions, site visits, and by creating personal resident goals, mentoring and coaching, and facilitating skills development. And your written skills are just as strong as your verbal ones. (40%)
- You’re organized. We are a small team with a huge impact. You can manage the administrative tasks that enable dozens of community builders to create hundreds of gatherings, and work on several projects at once. You’ll consistently complete administrative tasks that help keep the residents, programs, and department functioning (10%)
- You’ve got a variety of skills and love a fast-paced opportunity. You’ll participate and lead special projects based on need, expertise, and interest such as: recruiting new residents, creating new Moishe Houses, facilitating sessions at conferences or retreats, understanding young adult activities in your region (20%)
- You have at least two years professional experience. Moishe House seeks employees from diverse backgrounds and life experiences that can serve our community builders.
- You have a four-year college degree or equivalent years of work experience.
