Our new Rabbi will be a person who embraces our expanded and innovative vision, our legacy and the vast potential of our historic 90+ year old synagogue. This person must be passionate about our mission as the destination for all things Jewish in downtown Chicago: prayer, learning, cultural, communal, Zionist and more.
This charismatic community builder will be experienced, confident and willing to access halacha-based Judaism in a modern, approachable and engaging way. He or she must be “comfortable in their own skin” and ready to break free from the denominational boundaries that have historically divided our people and impeded Jewish engagement.
The Rabbi will be forward facing and eager to employ his/her power of personality, creativity, passion and Ahavat Yisrael to energetically expand the scope and impact of CLS. Far beyond “Lunch & Learns,” the Rabbi – working with the board of directors and professional staff – will spearhead innovative programs, Shabbat hospitality, spirited services and more. As the face of Chicago Loop Synagogue, the Rabbi will have direct impact and responsibility on the successful achievement of these mission goals. As such, the Rabbi will be primarily tasked with outreach and community building.
This position is full time and offers commensurate pay, generous benefits and entertainment expense budgets. It is expected that the Rabbi would live in the downtown area and compensation reflects this cost of living. Placement for August 1, 2020.
