Hebrew Language and Culture Teaching Position, Starting August 2020
P/T Position Available
Qualified candidates will be masterful educators, adept at teaching Hebrew as a 2nd language, who exhibit a deep knowledge of Hebrew language and culture, have facility in differentiating instruction, and possess strong oral and written communication skills.
Candidates must be comfortable working in a pluralistic Jewish setting that welcomes and celebrates students from a wide variety of Jewish backgrounds. Experience with Hebrew programs such as: Bishvil Ha'Ivrit (NETA), or Ulpan Or is preferred. We seek educators who are committed to collaborating and growing in their teaching practice, supporting diverse learners in the classroom, and serving as role models for engaged learning of Hebrew and Israeli culture.
Successful Candidates Will Possess:
-A passionate, charismatic, student-centered approach to teaching
-Experience in recognized standards of language instruction (ACTFL)
-Experience in effective methods of assessment of second-language skills
-Experience in teaching the iTalAM and Bishvil Haivrit programs, is prefered
-Ability and willingness to work with students in various group settings, using multiple teaching methods.
-A minimum of a bachelor’s degree, teaching credential from an accredited institution (North America or Israel) is preferred.
-Good classroom management skills.
-Commitment to meaningful collaboration with colleagues.
-Excellent communication skills and commitment to keeping parents informed and engaged.
-Willingness to take risks and seize leadership opportunities as they arise.
-Interest in professional growth and commitment to continuous learning
-Commitment to improving the school as a whole and willingness to share best practices with others.
-Ability to be self-reflective and commitment to learning from feedback received from colleagues, administrators, and students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-Teaching Hebrew classes and participating in regular department meetings
-Attendance at all faculty meetings and relevant grade-level meetings
-Participation in special school events including, but not limited to, Open Houses, Taste of evenings, special student performances. Attendance at other community/school events is encouraged.
-Other duties as assigned.
