About Brandeis University and Brandeis Hillel
At a time when other universities employed bias and quotas to exclude Jews and students of color, Brandeis had a distinctive founding. The Jewish community established Brandeis as a non-sectarian university, founded to be elite without being elitist, exclusive without being exclusionary, and welcoming and supportive of faculty and students of all backgrounds and beliefs. Today, Brandeis is driven by a set of values that are rooted in our Jewish history and experience.

Brandeis is home to 3,600 undergraduates and over 2,000 graduate students and is located in Waltham, MA, about 10 miles due west of Boston. Waltham was ranked in 2018 as Money magazine’s best city to live in Massachusetts.

Brandeis has the highest percentage of Jewish students of any nonsectarian institution outside of Israel. Its Jewish student body is simultaneously the most diverse in the country and the most Jewishly affiliated.

About Hillel International
In 1923, Rabbi Benjamin Frankel started Hillel with humble means, a noble mission and a breathtaking vision: to convey Jewish civilization to a new generation. Today, Hillel International continues to enrich the lives of Jewish students and is the largest Jewish campus organization in the world at more than 550 colleges and universities across North America and around the world. As Hillel evolves as an organization, the mission remains steadfast: to create lasting connections with every Jewish student that foster an enduring commitment to Jewish life, learning, and Israel and train them to become the next Jewish leaders.

Brandeis Hillel is affiliated with Hillel International. Hillel International enriches the lives of Jewish students so they may enrich the Jewish people and the world, and envisions a world where every student is inspired to make an enduring commitment to Jewish life, learning and Israel.
