Director of Early Childhood Education
Main Line Reform Temple Beth Elohim (MLRT) is a vibrant Reform Jewish community of 900+ families. The Early Childhood Education program (ECE) at Main Line Reform Temple Beth Elohim (MLRT) is a warm and nurturing environment that supports every child’s cognitive and physical development in a play-based environment. Jewish values and traditions drive the school curriculum environment and culture. Basic precepts such as respect for others, kindness, being a constructive member of a community, tzedakah, and practicing mitzvot are integrated into daily routines and interactive play. Main Line Reform Temple Beth Elohim seeks an experienced and dynamic administrator to serve as its Early Childhood Director.
The ideal candidate will, through inspirational leadership and a passion for early childhood education, foster a stimulating and innovative environment where the 150 children currently enrolled can learn and grow. The Director of Early Childhood Education will oversee daily administrative and educational components of the school including curriculum development, staff supervision, parental involvement, and budget maintenance. The school plays a critical role in the growth of our temple community, and MLRT is excited to welcome a Director whose vision will support the integration of our ECE families throughout all activities of the temple.
This position reports to the Executive Director of MLRT and is a key member if the synagogue senior staff. They will be expected to participate in regular staff meetings and related activities.
The Director of MLRT ECE will:
Assume responsibility for the daily operations of the school
Recruit, hire and train personnel for both school and summer camp. Supervise teaching and administrative staff through regular team meetings, staff development activities and daily-on-the-job supervision.(currently 26 faculty and staff)
Reach Early Childhood Education enrollment goals. Develop, implement, and manage a family/student recruitment plan.
Increase awareness of the MLRT ECE through marketing and community outreach efforts.
Coordinate all school activities and serve as Administrative Lead for all teachers and staff. Maintain Early Childhood Education licenses and PA Department of Health compliance.
Have strong communication skills; comfortable speaking in public with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (with a minimum of 24 credits in the field) or Masters in Early Childhood Education (preferred)
Experience teaching in Early Childhood Education (5 years minimum) or equivalent combination of education and experience
Supervisory/Leadership experience in Education (3 years minimum)
Knowledge of NAEYC, PA Early Learning Standards,, and the main tenets of Reform Judaism as set forth by the URJ (Union for Reform Judaism). (preferred)
Desire to be a team player, demonstrate leadership skills including organizational and administrative abilities, and excellent communication and customer service skills.
Must be proficient with using a computer, physically able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds, and working both indoors or outdoors.
