Religious School Principal, Glazer Campus

The principal of our Sunday Glazer (Koreatown)campus focuses on growing our flourishing programs and creating relevant, positive connections to our vibrant Jewish community, values, Torah, traditions and customs.

I. Working in collaboration with entire RS administrative team

II. Staff Hiring, management, and development (in coordination with entire RS administrative team)
A. Providing ongoing direction and support to teachers
B. Inspiring creativity and professional growth and development
C. Fostering joy and commitment among staff to further develop positive relationships with community members
D. Working with teachers to improve their teaching practice through coaching, professional development, modeling, and collaborative planning
E. Nurturing both students and teachers to achieve their greatest potential
F. Determining, scheduling and facilitating required staff training, as well as relevant seminars, conferences and additional training
G. Objectively completing staff evaluations
H. Ensuring that teachers maintain up-to-date student records
I. Maintaining regular communication with teachers
J. Implementing compassionate interventions for student and/or staff as needed

III. Administrative and financial management
A. Managing policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure the safety of all students and community members
B. Coordinating supplies and facilities requests
C. Serving as representative of Glazer campus RS at other WBT wide events
D. Communicating with the Head of School regularly about the needs, successes and general operation of the school
E. Conceptualizing the broad goals of the school and planning accordingly to ensure that procedures and schedules are implemented to carry out the total school program
F. Keeping program on budget

IV. Program Development
A. Planning and executing adult and family learning opportunities as well as community building events for the RS community
B. Forging strong and sincere relationships with our staff, students, and families
C. Promoting and maintaining open communication, positive student attitudes, respecting dignity, worth of staff, students, and complying with established lines of authority
D. Growing the Glazer RS community
E. Directing the development, creation, implementation and ongoing assessment of the entire K - 12 program in collaboration with RS administration as well as in partnership with BES and ECC when applicable.
F. Spearheading the growth and development of grade 8 - 12 programs including on-campus programming (Beit Midrash and Madrichim program), the development of a WBT youth group, retreats and trips, Confirmation and Moving Traditions.
G. Cultivating leadership in our teens, promoting and enabling them to effectively help in the religious school and other temple programs if desired
H. Maintaining regular communication with parents

Must possess:
- A high degree of professionalism in all elements of this position
- Passion for sharing Jewish life and learning
- Well-developed knowledge of best educational practices for all levels and types of learners
- Strong curricular and pedagogical knowledge
- Compassion, understanding, and patience when speaking with congregants and staff
- A track record of effective teacher and instructional coaching, with excellent interpersonal skills, humility, and drive
- Excellent communication skills
- A commitment to supporting students, staff, parents and peers
- Effective mentorship skills
- Previous effective supervisory and coaching experience
- Previous successful teaching and classroom management experience
- The ability to have challenging conversations
- The ability to exercise good judgment and use common sense
- The ability to remain calm in crisis situations
- The ability to interact respectfully with a wide range of personalities
- The ability to approach daily work from a person-centered vantage point
- The ability to promote and encourage open communication with staff, students, and parents
- Well-developed problem solving skills
- Excellent written & oral communication skills
- Strong ability to manage multiple projects with an eye to detail and quality of experience for participants
- Ability to be a role model for our youth and community
- Versatility with technology and social media
- Desire to be reflective in practice, an ongoing learner, and to work collaboratively and respectfully with fellow professionals
