Program Coordinator

Join our dynamic team and work closely with our Executive Director, Senior Rabbi, Clergy, and Synagogue members as you help run the busy schedule and programming of a vibrant UWS synagogue. The synagogue runs an array of programs which touch on nearly every area of spiritual and personal growth including youth & teen groups, a film club, young professionals’ events and adult ed. programming. During the week, there are a variety of classes, which are open to all who wish to come and learn. On any given Shabbat, LSS provides a variety of options for prayer services and widely attended shabbat and weekend events.

Our team is friendly, supportive, proud of our mission, and hard-working. This position requires staying late during our busy seasons (i.e. High Holiday, Annual Dinner or for other event related and programming tasks) and requires some weekend presence (Purim Carnival, Annual Dinner, Sukkot).


Existing Projects (Scheduled and Ad-hoc): responsibilities related to important congregational projects including High Holiday and community meals seating assignments and supporting the planning for the annual fundraising dinner.
Manage our High Holiday Registration & Seating Arrangements. This task has the support of member volunteers but the responsibility lays in this position. Signing people up, assigning seating, updating shul cloud with changes etc. (2-3 month process)
Design event flyers, gather all pertinent information such as bio, picture, event details etc. Work closely with ED on aesthetic of flyer.

New Event Projects/Initiatives: Bring new event ideas to the forefront and follow through on implementation of idea

Support Event Planning- Work collaboratively with ED, Clergy, and committee chairs/LSS members; coordinate logistics including room use and set up; create registration forms for all LSS events on our website; track registration; market and promote event. Follow through with all related tasks such as communicating speaker blurb and info to colleague to be included in newsletter, posters, flyers, emails, etc. Bring events to life with creative details and imaginative ideas

Social Media: Update our media platforms

Membership: Database management for Shul Membership Directory & membership profiles. More details to be discussed with ED

Calendar Management; Maintain the internal calendars

Letter Writing and Email/Mail Merges
Customer Service: Support the Administrative Assistant in managing the “front desk”. Answering calls etc.

A successful candidate should have the following skills and qualities:

Technology savvy- proficiency in basic office software (Word, Excel, Publisher).
Fast Learner

Design: have design skills, ability to edit and design promotional material (canva)

Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and project management skills

Strong customer service orientation- a) Your ‘customers’ are our congregants and you are the face of the Synagogue.
b) Internally: Lincoln Square Synagogue’s Executive Director and Clergy rely on you to support their demanding schedules and sometimes shifting priorities.

Team Player- enjoy working collaboratively, friendly, patient , flexible, with a ‘can do’ attitude, self-motivated
Jewish familiarity- Knowledge of Jewish tradition necessary. Knowledge of Hebrew language preferred
