Ronald C. Wornick Jewish Day School in Foster City is looking for an experienced advancement professional to support its mission of providing an outstanding education and preparing leaders steeped in Jewish values. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, innovative, and values-driven leader to help lead the school and achieve its goals. Wornick is surrounded by opportunities for growth and development. We are located on the 12-acre North Peninsula Jewish Community campus and share facilities with the Peninsula Jewish Community Center. The Development Director would work alongside a collaborative and caring senior leadership team in holding and executing the mission and vision of the school. The Development Director will also work closely with the Board of Trustees in attaining both annual and long-term development goals for the school. The Development Director will work closely with the Head of School and will also co-supervise a team of 1-2 support employees who will have development responsibilities.
Developing a comprehensive vision and plan for fundraising and institutional advancement.
Creating high touch and high level programming for major donors to increase their affinity towards the organization and build a stronger network of institutional supporters.
Engaging the entire community in community wide development initiatives that increase a sense of belonging toward the organization and an awareness of our community's strengths and successes.
Supervising Advancement Staff in concert with the Director of Admissions.
Overseeing donor databases and working closely with our Business Office and CFO to remain efficient and accurate in our development efforts.
Fostering an organizational culture of philanthropy.
Effectively lead and coach event committee volunteers and stakeholders.
Lead and attend Development Committee Meetings.
Maintain detailed records of event revenues, expenses and budgets.
Minimum of five (5) years of senior level development work at a Jewish non-profit, independent school, or similar non-profit
BA/BS or equivalent degree
Proven track record of collaboration, teamwork, and effective workplace communication
Knowledge and experience with development best practices
Experience with Development databases (Veracross is a plus)
Experience planning both major events (for several hundred people) and more intimate events (dozens of people)
Knowledge of the Bay Area Jewish community, Jewish non profits or independent schools is preferred
Proficiency with MS Office and G-Suite preferred
Ability to work collaboratively and independently
Excellent organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
Comfortable dealing with confidential and sensitive information
Ability to work some evenings and weekends
