Yeshiva University's Zahava and Moshael Straus Center for Torah and Western Thought has an open position for a Communications and Program Officer to join the Center.
Responsible for duties including but not limited to:
• Logistical coordination of public, donor and student events, conferences, and academic retreats (including all venue, vendors, and transportation arrangements)
• Assist in recruitment of students for Straus Scholars Program
• Drafting and coordinating all internal and external Straus Center communications, including written coverage of public and student events, maintaining the website, developing a social media strategy, publicity materials (including monthly listserv newsletter updates, event flyers and invitations, director’s report), and podcasts
• Assisting in editing and research for Straus Center publications, including books, long-form essays and student publications
• Coordinate communications to Straus Scholars and act as liaison between them and Straus staff
• Managing university systems pertaining to hiring visiting faculty
• Other tasks as necessary
Experience & Educational Background:
• Master’s degree in Jewish studies or a related field required
• Candidates should possess at least 2-5 years of experience in an educational setting, with administrative experience preferred
Skills & Competencies:
• Knowledge of the Jewish community and its trends
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies, including students, faculty, donors and administrators
• Excellent written and oral communications skills, strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy, strong analytic and problem solving skills, ability to multi-task, effectively prioritize work, and adjust to changing workloads and deadlines
• Skill in developing and implementing new strategies and procedures
