Momentum (previously known as the JWRP), a non-profit organization based in Rockville, Maryland, was established in 2008 to empower and inspire women to transform themselves, their families, their communities, and the world. Momentum’s flagship program is an eight-day, highly subsidized, action-packed journey through Israel—an opportunity for women who share a common vision of self-growth and personal development to deeply explore themselves. Over 17,000 individuals from over 29 different countries have already experienced this life- changing trip, returning home with the best gift of all—a deep, eternal connection to Israel, a profound kinship with each other, and a heart filled with Jewish values.
At the request of many participants, their husbands, and partnering organizations, we created Momentum opportunities for men, helping to lift the family together. Hundreds of men have already participated in the spirit-building power of this experience.
Momentum works in partnership with a over 200 community organizations, and has established itself among major Jewish organizations and leaders, built a stable base of funding, and continues to grow. Thanks to a partnership with the Israeli government, Momentum will expand its reach to even more organizations in more countries.
An extremely dedicated, hands-on, entrepreneurial group of professionals and lay leaders have built the organization from scratch to where it is today.
Reporting to the Director of Development, the Regional Development Director/Major Gifts Officer is responsible for developing strategies for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors with special focus on five figure multi-year gifts with a focus on a targeted geographic region. Proactively collaborates and communicates with the Board Development Committee, key lay leaders and staff to assure a unified and integrated approach for cultivation and/or solicitation and serves as the account manager for several key solicitors. He/She will participate in community building and fundraising events with our partner organizations in an effort to maintain a relationship with participants and work with our partners for mutual fundraising and community development. The Major Gift Officer will be responsible for regional follow-up with donors, prospects and cultivates new individual and foundation relationships. He/She will maximize use of database management and reporting and donor research tools to reach strategic objectives.
1. Develop and manage your own portfolio of major ($25,000+) and principal ($1 million+) gift prospects, and design and implement strategies for their cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
2. Develop and execute individualized development plans for significant donors and prospects – including the effective use of lay leaders and staff.
3. Convert one-time gifts of $25,000 and under to annual giving.
4. Provide support for city receptions by focusing on stewardship and follow-up with donors and prospects after the events. Work with the event planning team to partner with event lay leaders on targeting and maximizing recruitment strategies to ensure optimal event attendance, Follow-up with attendees to maximize giving. Attend specific city cultivation events predominantly in the US.
5. Serve as the account manager for other key solicitors such as Board Members. Working closely with other members of the development team, support board member fundraising activity with donor research, materials preparation and relevant follow-up.
6. Identify and cultivate foundation prospects and work with colleagues to submit relevant requests and reports.
7. Supports the Director of Development in creating the annual development strategy and plan for the organization.
8. Attends targeted industry conferences that support annual stewardship and cultivation goals.
9. Conducts donor research and draft proposals as needed to maximize relationship building and strategy implementation.
10. Effectively utilize the donor database (SalesForce) with timely and detailed entries and relevant reporting.
11. Participates in department meetings and company-wide events, and performs other relevant duties as assigned.
1. Education: BA in a relevant field required.
2. Experience: At least seven years of successful fundraising experience within a Jewish communal, higher education, or nonprofit setting; Significant experience identifying, cultivating, and soliciting five-, six-, and seven-figure gifts from individual and family foundations.

• Ability to occasionally work non-traditional hours based on operational needs of working in a global environment with staff in multiple time zones
• Prior experience in a using Salesforce or other donor databases preferred
• Ability to travel both domestically and internationally to meet with donors and attend events
