Communication and School Coordinator

Temple Beth Hillel – Beth El is a vibrant Conservative Synagogue in the Main Line suburbs of Philadelphia. The Communication and School Coordinator will be the central synagogue staff member developing and coordinating publicity/advertisements for all synagogue programs. The position requires excellent communications, graphic arts, computer, website management, writing, and organizational skills. The coordinator will work closely with clergy and staff members, synagogue officers, committee chairs, and volunteers. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

1. Synagogue and School Publicity and Public Relations
A. Implement overall synagogue publicity and public relations program
B. Develop internal publicity for all synagogue events including flyers, posters, etc.
C. Develop appropriate external publicity for synagogue events including advertising (as budgeted), community calendars, post cards, press releases, etc.

2. Announcements: Weekly Highlights and Pharisee
A. Collect program information and announcements for the weekly Shabbat booklet
and weekly email
B. Ensure weekly website posting and email distribution of the weekly email
C. Develop other email blasts to the congregation or targeted constituencies
D. Regularly update and maintain the lobby displays
E. Coordinate and develop monthly print newsletter, The Pharisee

3. School Administration
A. Provide administrative support for the Religious School and the Religious School Director
B. Be present during Religious School hours to provide support for staff and families.

C. Work with Teachers to ensure that each classroom is prepared and all materials are arranged.
D. Manage payroll and inventory for the Religious School

4. Temple Beth Hillel – Beth El Website & Technology
A. Keep website current with frequent updates
B. Expand and improve website content and layout
C. Ensure committees and departments maintain current information
D. Implement changes to increase the website’s usefulness to better serve the needs of website visitors
E. Expand the use of electronic and social media including the synagogue Facebook Page, Twitter, and new approaches to online communications

5. Other Duties
A. Assist the Executive Director and office staff in answering of phones and welcoming people to the building.
B. Assist at programs and events as assigned.

Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 10:00am – 6:00pm
Wednesday: 10:30am – 6:30pm

Sunday: 8:00am – 1:00pm * during the school year
