CLERGY ASSISTANT TO THE RABBI, 15-20 HOURS PER WEEK

APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED NOW. START DATE IS JULY 1.

Temple Beth David is a diverse, joyful and egalitarian conservative congregation of 250 member families in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

As the Assistant to the Rabbi, you will support the rabbi in maximizing her ability to serve the spiritual needs of our diverse congregation. While the work will primarily be done during working business hours, there will be an occasional evenings, weekends and holiday needs.

Candidates should have excellent organizational and communication skills and have the ability to become part of a “team” and work well with others, and maintain a very positive congenial attitude. This individual is required to be a strong multi-tasker in an active environment.

Core Areas of Responsibility:

Calendar management including oversight of online calendars and correspondence by phone and email to schedule or reschedule meetings on behalf of the Rabbi.

In box management for the Rabbi, including flagging important emails for follow-up, and responding to and composing correspondences that do not require the personal attention of the rabbi.

Maintain the Rabbi’s pulpit notebook, including the various lists that accompany the notebook.

Support for special projects and synagogue events.

High comfort level and creativity in developing flyers and temple publications.

Logistical support for programming, meetings, and lifecycle and religious events, including communication with volunteers, publicity and errands. Prepartion of printed or digital materials, photocopies, etc. Anticipating needs for upcoming programs.

Share information of upcoming events on Temple Beth David’s Social Media platforms and other platforms as appropriate.

Attend staff meetings at the request of the Rabbi.

Other office work as needed.

Required Skills:

Strong organizational skills: ability to prioritize, take initiative and work independently or as a member of the team.

Clear written and verbal communications skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills, and the maturity and sensitity to handle pastoral needs and confidential information.

Computer skills to use software including all Microsoft Office platforms, Google Workspace and Zoom; plus a willingness to learn new technology as needed.

Familiarity with synagogue-specific software (e.g., Shulcloud).

Familiarity of Jewish customs and celebrations.

Salary/Benefits:

$20-$24/hour depending on experience.

Generous PTO (holidays, personal, vacation)
