Description

Temple Beth Sholom is looking for a dedicated and engaging tutor to guide and inspire our students on their journey toward becoming B’nai Mitzvah. This is a meaningful opportunity to make a lasting impact on our students and their families while sharing your love of Hebrew, Torah, and Jewish traditions.

About the Role

As a B-Mitzvah tutor, you will work one-on-one with students to help them build confidence in Hebrew, prayer, and Torah/Haftarah chanting/reading. We are seeking warm, knowledgeable, and passionate educators who can create a personal and enriching experience for each student. Tutors can work with one or more students, depending on availability and schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Guide students in mastering their Torah portion, haftarah portion, and prayers.
  • Help students understand the meaning and significance of prayers and Torah.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with students, parents, and clergy.
  • Manage your own tutoring schedule with professionalism and reliability.
  • Confidently assist in fluency, familiarity, and decoding of Hebrew letters.
  • Prepare recordings when needed.
  • Update the team on any challenges that might arise during the process.

 What We’re Looking For

  • A passion for Jewish education—engaging, enthusiastic, and student-centered.
  • Experience in teaching Hebrew reading, Torah chanting, Haftarah chanting, and Jewish customs.
  • Ability to connect with and adjust to students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles, both in person and virtually.
  • Comfortable working in a flexible and collaborative environment.
  • A team player who enjoys creative and cooperative work.
  • Open to learning and incorporating Temple Beth Sholom’s customs and practices.

 Why Join Us?

  • Impactful Work: Make a significant difference in the lives of our students and their families.
  • Supportive Community: Be part of a warm and welcoming community that values education and tradition.
  • Flexible Schedule: Enjoy the flexibility to manage your own tutoring schedule.
  • Professional Growth: Opportunities for professional development and growth within our community.

If you are passionate about Jewish learning and want to help shape this important milestone for our students, we would love to hear from you!
