Overview: Temple Israel of Great Neck, a prominent congregation within the Conservative movement in America for over 60 years, is seeking a dynamic Director of Member Engagement & Communications to join our team. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, he/she will collaborate closely with others to craft and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy to support the synagogue’s efforts to recruit new members as well as assist in retaining existing membership. He/She will have a solid foundation in social media, communication, and marketing principles, coupled with proficiency in design tools and language.

 Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with clergy, committees, and staff to develop and maintain a calendar of events that furthers the synagogue’s mission and goals.
  • Support the programming of our religious school, preschool, and auxiliaries.
  • Create and implement on-boarding program for new members.
  • Coordinate with Executive Director to connect with potential members and create programs for community outreach.
  • Foster a sense of belonging and connection among members and potential members through effective communications, personal outreach, and community-building activities.
  • Organize volunteer opportunities to engage members in synagogue life.
  • Create professional, engaging, and compelling content across print, digital, and social media platforms to promote synagogue events, programs, initiatives and new member outreach.
  • Manage the synagogue's online presence, including website content, social media channels, and email newsletters.
  • Collaborate with synagogue leadership, staff, and volunteers to develop internal communications and external advertising campaigns.
  • Design and produce marketing materials including the bi-monthly newsletter magazine.

 Qualifications:

  •  Bachelor’s degree.
  • Strong familiarity with Jewish calendar and traditions.
  • 5+ years’ experience in marketing & communications including experience developing marketing and/or community-building strategies for organizations.
  • Strong organization and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with social media, website administration, and related technology.
  • Non-Profit or synagogue experience preferred.
Salary60,000.00 - 85,000.00 Annual
