POSITION: Board Liaison & Governance Manager
EXEMPT / NON-UNION
DEPARTMENT: Executive Office of the President & CEO
SALARY: $85,000 – $95,000

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Reporting to the President & CEO with the support of the Chief Operating Offer, the Director of Board Relations & Governance will serve as the primary point of contact for board members, ensuring seamless communication and efficient coordination of board-related activities, provide exemplary customer service to this volunteer community, and act as liaison between the officers, the board and multiple constituencies with care and attention. This position will manage board of director meetings and will work closely with the CEO and other key stakeholders to support the effectiveness and governance of the Board of Directors.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

  • Board Member Liaison: Serve as the first point of contact for administrative needs of board members.
  • Board Governance Support: Assist the CEO and other executives with board assessments, committee assignments, compliance matters, director slates, and other governance-related initiatives.
  • Ensure regular meetings and compliance with JFEDLA bylaws and other governance requirements
  • Coordinate and manage the Board of Directors appointment process and facilitate the transition of incoming and outgoing board members.
  • Manage the governance data system, ensuring timely and accurate record keeping.
  • Board Meetings & Event Coordination: Plan, manage and execute the logistics and scheduling of Board of Director meetings, Executive Committee meetings, board retreats, and other board-related events with CEO and others, including preparing agendas, distributing materials, and coordinating catering, travel arrangements, etc., as needed.
  • Oversee timely review and distribution of minutes in conjunction with Executive Associate.
  • Manage the Chair of the Board in coordination with the CEO to ensure they are aware of issues affecting JFEDLA, prepared for meetings by drafting talking points for events, speeches and meetings, and ensuring that their calendars are managed efficiently.
  • Serve as point person with the Board, IT and COO on the board portal platform, ensuring board training and support as needed.
  • Emeritus Board Management: Support the CEO in establishing and maintaining an Emeritus Board, including scheduling meetings, preparing and distributing agendas, taking minutes, and ensuring effective communication with Emeritus Board members.
  • Communication & Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized records of board-related activities, including meeting minutes, resolutions, and board member information. Ensure clear and consistent communication with board members on relevant organizational updates and information

ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Be available to supervisor for additional assignments, as required, including assisting with the Campaign.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR POSITION

  • Bachelor’s degree is required;
  • 3+ years relevant Non-Profit experience, including board relations, executive support, corporate governance or related field.
  • Experience in non-profit organization in the Jewish communal field and Jewish Federation a plus.
  • Able to work effectively and comfortably with high level executives, board members and other high net worth individuals.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with the upmost discretion.
  • Exceptionally strong organizational, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the Jewish community
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience with board management software (e.g., OnBoard, BoardEffect, Diligent) a plus
  • A hybrid work model will be implemented for certain positions. This position will report to the Federation offices on onsite workdays.
