Position Title:  Israel Education and Programming in Tri-State/ Greater New York 

Organization: Club Z

Location: Hybrid in the Tri-State/ Greater New York

Our educators are the most essential component of the Club Z magic and are on the frontlines of shaping and molding our leaders to become activists and proud zionists. 

Working closely with our Director of Education, educators execute lessons, are part of the regional team, participate in ongoing teacher and facilitation training, cultivate teen leaders, and further develop their own breadth and depth of knowledge in Jewish history all while bringing their teaching flare and style to the experience

One of the fundamental components of Club Z’s work is activism. We educate and train our teens to be the next generation of proud Zionist activists. To this end, we provide our teens with activism opportunities, including, but not limited to, speaking at city council meetings and pro-Israel rallies, attending counter-protests and anti-Israel events, bringing speakers into their high schools, etc. As part of the role of Regional Directors, Managers, and Educators, the PandE and Education teams are responsible for mentoring and guiding teens to build their activism skills. As a result, PandE and Education staff are expected to attend activism events with their teens within their region to provide leadership and set an example for their community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Travel within the Tri-State area as needed for programmatic and educational needs
  • Prepare and deliver engaging lessons in the framework of Club Z Institute’s curriculum
  • Actively recruit, plan and execute social and parent/community events 
  • Keep yourself informed about current events in Jewish, Israeli, and American life
  • Use creative approaches to ensure student engagement and participation in sessions 
  • Support, guide, and mentor students on issues they face as Jews on their high school campus, with guidance from the Director of Education, 
  • Guide student behavior to foster achievement, personal responsibility, and critical thinking.
  • Help develop and execute leadership training programs for Club Z teens 
  • Collaborate with the programming team on all Club Z initiatives to provide strong education and personal development for Club Z teens, parent body, community, and stakeholders 

 

Key Qualifications:

The ideal candidate is an educator whose expertise and passion have prepared them to teach engaging lessons in the framework of Club Z curriculum:

  • 5+ years of teaching experience in a full-time setting
  • Experience with building and growing a community, doing outreach and recruitment, and creating partnerships. 
  • Passion for Israel, Israel education, and educating the Jewish people
  • Excellent understanding of Israel and the Zionist advocacy space
  • Experience in teenage programming and engagement 
  • Knowledge of Jewish/Israel history and the Arab- Israeli conflict
  • Strong willingness to learn and grow as an Educator receiving continuous professional development.  
  • Be able to develop and deliver a lesson that is informal and experiential in nature, working with the Director of Education for direction and assistance. 
  • Strong facilitation skills 
  • An enthusiastic and innovative team player with a strong work ethic, a sense of humor, and an ability to take risks and learn from situations.
  • A Bachelor's degree is required.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Collaborative mindset with an ability to work in a team environment as well as on his/her own with minimal supervision when needed. 
  • Comfortable with a hybrid work experience, meeting in person for Club Z institute sessions and other events
  • Work evenings and weekends to support the needs of the region
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Technology competent and willing to learn new tools.

About the Organization

Headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area, Club Z connects teens to Israel, Jewish history, and each other. With several national chapters and grounded in dynamic and unique educational curricula, Club Z engages students around their Jewish identity, develops their leadership skills, and creates a powerful network of knowledgeable, articulate, and effective activists.

This is an Exempt, full-time role requiring on-site/in-person presence as well as occasional travel locally, regionally and nationally. Applicants must be authorized to work and be based in the US.

This role is Hybrid/partially remote but will require light travel throughout the year within the contiguous United States as well as internationally.

Essential functions: an applicant or employee must be able to perform essential job functions and should have the ability to lift 25-50 lbs; plan a trip and travel independently; the ability to safely climb ladders while carrying 20 lbs; read and write quickly/parallel activities, counting/grouping.
