Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) not-for-profit corporation headquartered in New York City with approximately 24 regional offices around the country, and strong ties to Israel.

FIDF was established in 1981 by a group of Holocaust survivors to provide for the wellbeing of the men and women who serve in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The organization is committed to providing the men and women who serve in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) as well as the families of fallen soldiers with love, support and care through educational, social, cultural, and recreational programs and facilities to ease the burden they carry on behalf of the Israeli and Jewish communities worldwide.

Education, Experience and Skills Required

  • 2+ years’ experience in accounting
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Proficient in computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Office
  • Collaborative workstyle, effective working in and across teams
  • Experience with Blackbaud, Financial Edge or Raiser’s Edge preferred

Essential Job Duties:

  • Support Accounts Payable Manager receiving and verifying invoices, data entry into accounting software, processing payments to vendors, maintaining accurate records of accounts payable transactions, and assisting with vendor reconciliation
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations for various bank accounts
  • Provide detailed analyses and explanations of all transactions/reconciling items
  • Prepare analyses for Form 990 and for the annual audit
  • Prepare daily and monthly journal entries to record account activity, including foreign current transactions and translation
  • Participate in the annual external audit and special projects
  • Prepare balance sheet and income statement account analyses as well as monthly/quarterly/ ad hoc reports
  • Assist in any other Finance related assignments
  • Complete other tasks and duties as assigned
