The Role
The Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) is seeking a dynamic and passionate Assistant Director of Marketing and Recruitment to support the growth of the Reform Movement’s offerings and experiences, primarily focusing on Yallah! Israel, Heller High, and Teen Israel Fellowships. This role is key to fostering inclusive communities that empower people from diverse backgrounds—including People of Color, individuals with disabilities, LGBTQ+ youth, interfaith families, and other underrepresented groups—to engage in Jewish life and become leaders who positively impact the world.
What You Will Do
The Assistant Director of Marketing & Recruitment reports to the Associate Director, Yallah! Israel and is responsible for the following:
Marketing & Communications

Develop and execute comprehensive marketing, communication, and recruitment strategies for URJ teen Israel programs, including Yallah! Israel, Heller High, and Teen Israel Fellowships.

Manage the online presence for URJ Israel programs, including social media, websites, and blog content, ensuring messaging is inclusive and engaging.

Support logistical tasks such as registration, staff hiring, flight logistics, and event setup as needed.
Recruitment

Coordinate and facilitate recruitment events, including congregational visits, Israel fairs, and home visits in key geographic areas.

Marketing & Communications: Ability to develop and execute comprehensive marketing and recruitment strategies that capture the interest of today’s youth. Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills to create engaging promotional materials for diverse audiences. Expertise in managing social media platforms and creating content that resonates with teens and families. Proficiency in online marketing techniques, including email campaigns, website management, and SEO. Understanding of branding guidelines and ability to ensure consistent messaging across all channels. Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Marketing Cloud, CampMinder) for managing communications and data.

Recruitment & Outreach: Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including teens, families, community partners, and URJ staff. Experience in recruiting and engaging diverse audiences, particularly youth, through targeted outreach strategies. Strong organizational skills to plan and execute recruitment events such as fairs, home visits, and congregational visits. Ability to create and foster a network of local recruiters to spread awareness and engage communities.
