We are looking for a passionate 6th/7th and 3rd grade educator to join our Religious School community for the coming school year (2024-2025, 5785)!
Teaching is in-person, and our school meets on the following days and times:
Sundays (whole school)-9:00am-12:15pm
Wednesdays (3rd-7th grades)-4:15-6:15pm
The school year runs from Sunday, September 8th to our closing celebration Sunday, June 1st.
Each grade focuses on Hebrew language, Jewish holidays, and Jewish values through the lens of their overarching curricular topic. Teachers are asked to write their own lesson plans based on the in-depth curriculum and activities provided, with planning assistance by the Education Director as needed. Teachers are paid for 1 hour of planning a week at the meeting rate of $15/hr.
Additionally, Wednesday (3rd-7th grade) teachers are asked to lead elective classes for our older students, designed to explore Judaism through various lenses and topics. Previous electives have included various Jewish crafts, writing a Purim Shpiel, reading current events, Torah yoga, learning Jewish music, fantasy Israeli basketball, and more!

Salary is $45-60/hr, based on education and previous experience. All teachers are paid $15/hr for meetings and 1 hour of planning time a week.
Teachers can be available Sundays and/or Wednesdays-please include your availability in your cover letter when applying!
Congregation Ohev Shalom is a mid-sized progressive Conservative congregation in Wallingford, PA (Philly suburbs). Our school is open to Early Learning (3 years old) through 7th grade, emphasizing experiential learning and relationship building as keys to helping our students develop a strong Jewish identity.
