Wilshire Boulevard Temple Sunday Religious School Site Coordinator

The Site Coordinator for the Religious School will be responsible for overseeing the weekly Sunday operations of the program, ensuring a smooth and effective experience for students, parents, and staff. The primary goal of this role is to create a joyful, engaging, and meaningful environment for Kindergarten through 6th grade students, while fostering a vibrant and connected community of learning.

The role is expected to require an average of 10 hours per week throughtout the calendar year, with Sunday hours from 7:30 am to 2:00 pm during the school year. The remaining hours are flexible and can be completed during traditional work hours.

While this position is currently part-time, there is potential for it to become full-time. We are looking for an individual with professional teaching experience, a calm demeanor, strong leadership capabilities, quick problem-solving skills, and excellent communication abilities. Basic Hebrew reading proficiency and the ability to chant Reform T'fillot (or a willingness to learn with the resources provided) are required.

Key Responsibilities:

Sunday School Responsibitities (During the school Year)

  • Oversee and manage the TK - 6th grade Sunday morning program, ensuring effective interaction with students, teaching staff, WBT staff and parents
  • Report directly to the Associate Director and Head of Religious Schools
  • Coordinate with the executive assistant to address any facility-related needs (e.g.,additional chairs, special event setups, SMARTBoard setups)
  • Communicate with families regarding students absences or performance concerns
  • Help resolve social issues among students and troubleshoot scheduling challenges with parents
  • Arrange substitute teachers when needed
  • Respond to emails from staff, teachers, and parents in a timely manner
  • Participate in necessary staff meetings and provide supervision as needed in conjunction with the staff development manager

Summer Responsibilities

  • Assist with recruiting and hiring teaching staff
  • Develop schedules for teachers, clergy, and specialists
  • Organize class break times and locations
  • Prepare and organize supplies for the upcoming school year
  • Meet with and speak to potential new families
  • Participate in staff training planning and facilitation

This is a year-round, part-time postition (12 hours p/week) $38,000; commencing June 2, 2025.
