Description
SDJA is seeking a teacher of Jewish Studies to middle and/or high school students. The successful candidate will have a comfort level in a broad range of subject knowledge in a variety of topics in Judaic Studies. This position may involve teaching Tanach, Rabbinics, Jewish history, Jewish values, Jewish rituals, and/or Israel, with a focus on how the views of Jewish traditions inform aspects of our lives today. The successful candidate will have an understanding of the diverse viewpoints associated with teaching in a pluralistic day school setting. The ideal candidate will have facility with studying and teaching text using Hebrew. The teacher will also work closely with members of the staff to provide an inspiring and motivational Jewish learning environment. High school teachers also participate in leading minyan, assisting in student Jewish life programming, and chaperoning as needed.

Requirements:
SDJA seeks an experienced Jewish Studies teacher with a minimum of 3 years of classroom experience who has a background in curricular and pedagogical innovation. The successful candidate will possess the following capacities: a sincere love of working with teenagers, a passion for a variety of topics within Jewish  Studies and the teaching of it, curiosity and a growth mindset, the ability to provide differentiated instruction, and an interest in integrating student voice and student choice into the curriculum. A bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
 
Salary Range & Benefits Package:
The anticipated salary range for this position is $52,162 to $83,594 (for full-time, pro-rated for part-time).  The offer to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to: the type and years of experience; training; practical knowledge; and education.
