The Jewish Federation of Western Connecticut (JFEDWC) is dedicated to building and sustaining a vibrant, inclusive Jewish community. Through advocacy, education, and programming, we strengthen Jewish life locally, regionally, and in Israel. The successful candidate would lead the development and execution of innovative Jewish programming that enriches lives, fosters engagement, and celebrates Jewish traditions and values. You would report to the Executive Director.
Key Responsibilities
Program Development and Implementation
- Design, plan, and implement engaging, and inclusive programs for diverse audiences, including children, teens, young adults, families, and seniors.
- Incorporate Jewish traditions, culture, and values into programming to strengthen participants’ connection to Jewish life.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs, making adjustments based on feedback and measurable outcomes.
Event Planning and Coordination
- Organize and oversee events such as holiday celebrations, speaker series, cultural festivals, and educational workshops.
- Manage all logistical aspects of events, including scheduling, vendor coordination, and setup/teardown.
Community Engagement and Outreach
- Foster relationships with local synagogues, schools, and individuals to promote participation in Federation activities.
- Work with our marketing TEAM member to promote programs and events.
Administrative and Team Collaboration
- Work closely with colleagues to align programming with the organization’s mission and strategic goals.
- Manage program budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness while maintaining quality and impact.
- Track attendance, program metrics, and outcomes for reporting and grant applications.
- Participate in staff meetings and contribute to a collaborative, TEAM oriented environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Jewish studies, education, event management, or a related field; advanced degree is a plus.
- 3+ years of experience in program development, event planning, or community engagement, preferably in a Jewish communal setting.
- Exceptional organizational, project management, and multitasking skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building abilities.
- Understanding of Jewish culture and values.
- Proficient in using technology for virtual/hybrid programming, including Zoom, social media platforms, and other tools.
Working Environment
- Hybrid Role - Combination of remote work and on-site responsibilities, with flexibility for evening and weekend events as needed; 25 hours a week; $27. per hour.
