Early Elementary General Studies Teacher

Irvine Hebrew Day School is an innovative Jewish day school in Irvine, CA. IHDS has a dual focus for student success that includes high academic rigor and social emotional learning. The interdisciplinary program has a strong emphasis on Jewish spirituality, Torah education and Hebrew proficiency. We are seeking highly motivated and inspiring early elementary general studies teachers to join our faculty for the 2024-25 school year. .

Responsibilities:

Our general studies teachers are responsible for teaching reading, writing, math, social studies, and science. In addition to utilizing the selected curriculum, teachers will also be developing curriculum and delivering interdisciplinary instruction in an interesting, stimulating and effective manner. Teachers will be utilizing a variety of instructional methodologies and curriculum resources to present material. Teachers will be responsible for assessing student learning, managing classroom routines and implementing a behavioral approach using “Positive Discipline”. Teachers will work as a team member, share common planning, professional development, curriculum design, and teaching responsibilities. Teachers will administer different forms of student assessments, communicate with parents and other team members about student progress, and plan for further instruction.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have experience implementing engaging and dynamic General Studies curricula, as well as knowledge of Jewish life and traditions. We seek teachers who have experience with designing and developing grade-level curriculum across content areas. We are seeking candidates who demonstrate a willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and incorporate a social emotional approach to teaching and learning. We seek teachers who thrive in collaborative environments, are reflective and committed to growth, and have strong communication skills. Applicants must have prior teaching experience,hold a valid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and/or have an educational degree.
