Waterfront Director - Swim Side

This is a summer-season leadership position responsible for all activity on the swim dock, including but not limited to swimming, kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, sailing, inflatable, and fishing. The safety of all campers and staff is the primary responsibility of Rosh Swim. Below is a non-exhaustive list of tasks and responsibilities of the role.

Programming

  • Supervise all swim side activities during the camp season and family camp
  • Develop four day chug (activity) lesson plans 
    • Canoeing
    • Kayaking
    • Paddleboarding
    • Sailing
    • Fishing
    • Water Zumba

Staff Support & Supervision

  • Set schedule of lifeguards and activity leads for daily activities
  • Train, coach and mentor staff on effectively planning and leading programs 
  • Supervise boat drivers, lifeguards, and counselors working in the activity area
  • Lead on-going in-sevice training 

Equipment Management

  • Manage inventory of all equipment used on the swim side
  • Order supplies as needed
  • Work with waterfront manager to solve any maintenance issues

Safety

  • Maintain health and safety standards in accordance with Wisconsin law
  • Lead emergency procedure in case of emergency
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment

Qualifications

  • Lifeguard certification (Instructor preferred), CPR/AED/First Aid 
  • 1+ year experience lifeguarding in a lake or non-pool setting
  • 1+ year experience working with children ages 7-15
  • 1+ year experience managing a team of staff 

2025 Dates: Training and prep begins June 1. Summer camp runs June 17-August 18.
