Camp Kehilla Counselor

POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES:

Camp Kehilla Counselor interact with campers throughout the day to develop social skills and friendships. This position will assist with the growth and care of special needs campers in a fun and nurturing environment.

ESSENETIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Interact with assigned campers throughout the entire day , helping them make friends, try new things, and generally care for their well-being
• Participate in camp activities, build relationships with campers and have fun while ensuring the physical and emotional safety of every child
• Support the Camp Director, Division Head, and Group Leader by following established rules and emergency procedures
• Assist and lead activities when necessary
• Communicate with camp leadership any issues or concerns
• Attend all staff meetings, trainings (SCIP, CPR, First Aid, Epipen), and camp orientations
• All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be 17+ years of age
• Experience working with individuals with special needs preferred, but not required
• Exhibit an ability to help children grow in character, experiences and insights
• Ability to guard the health and well-being of campers at all times
• Passion for working with children who have developmental disabilities
• Capable of sustaining energy for participation in a full day of activities
• Demonstrate the following traits in all situations enthusiastic, responsible, dependable, consistent, levelheaded, flexible, and calm.
• Ability to communication both in writing and orally
• Flexibility and ability to multi task and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
• Foster collaboration and effective communication among team members and promote a positive work environment
