The Marks JCH of Bensonhurst, known as the JCH, is a center of community life in Brooklyn, rooted in Jewish values and fostering an inclusive environment. We help at every life stage, providing critical services that lift people out of poverty, as well as innovative programing that educates and inspires our community members. The Marks JCH is a full-scale human service agency, providing social services, older adult services, resettlement support, job placement in addition to being a Jewish community center offering children’s, youth, family, and cultural programs. Marks JCH prides itself on its 360-degree holistic service model, providing services for the whole family, meeting the needs of low- and moderate-income New Yorkers, specializing in helping refugees and immigrants.
Department Overview
The Marks JCH is a citywide leader in workforce development — job training, placement, and retention services — for some of NYC’s most vulnerable populations. We are a go-to workforce development resource for low-income immigrants. Over the last 15 years, the Marks JCH has trained 4,500+ people for new jobs; provided ESL to 20,000+ clients, and placed 9,000+ clients in jobs. We have decades of experience with job training, placement, and retention. Through its Summer Youth Employment Program and other initiatives, the Marks JCH has introduced approximately 5,000 youth to the world of work
Position Summary
The Youth & Young Adult Workforce Project Director will be responsible for the provision of a wide range of supports focused on career pathways and opportunities for out-of-school youth ages 16-26 years old. The Project Director will lead the Train & Earn initiative providing a continuum of services inclusive of occupational training and credential attainment in the healthcare sector, job placement and referrals, internship and apprenticeship opportunities, as well as college and career exploration. Program offerings include wrap-around services supported by mental health counseling and case management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Administrative and programmatic supervision of the Marks JCH Youth & Young Adult Workforce Program.
- Supervise a team of professionals including youth outreach specialist/case manager, job developer as well as partners and subcontractors.
- Coordinate with agency partners for referrals and expansion of services; participate in community convening’s for training, networking, and advocacy.
- Act as liaison for NYC Department of Youth and Community Development.
- Maintain all contractual obligations of the program and ensure targets are being met and complete program reports weekly/monthly on program details and client attainments.
- Develop models and oversee program outreach and communication.
- Collaborate with Marks JCH employment services/adult literacy services to ensure job placement and literacy offerings for participants.
- Ensure maintenance of accurate client and activity record keeping; oversee data collection and entry; complete statistical reporting as developed.
- Remain up to date with current labor laws, market trends and workforce initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Psychology, Social Work, Education or related field. Masters preferred.
- A minimum of three years of employment within workforce or young adult programs. Preference for experience in supervisory or management role (1-2 years).
- Outcome driven with ability to respond to changing landscape and priorities
- Demonstrated experience in working with government contracts, preferably, NYC contracts.
- Demonstrated strong commitment to issues regarding client empowerment and working with a diverse population.
- Computer skills using MS Office, Word, Excel, Access, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and demonstrated ability to learn new systems.
- Excellent verbal and written command of English.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
This is a full-time position, salary commensurate with degree and experience ($70,000-$80,000)
