Job Title: Office Manager
Supervisor: Executive Director
Start Date: Flexible, but early availability is strongly preferred. No later than April 1.

Job Description:
Beth Meyer Synagogue, a Jewish house of prayer and learning community, invites applications for full-time, Monday-Friday work as our Office Manager. An indispensable partner to the Executive Director and problem solver, the Office Manager is responsible for the day-to-day administration and improvement of Beth Meyer Synagogue’s business office. This job is a great fit for someone who enjoys learning about the mechanics of an organization! Applicants are not expected to have relevant experience with all the job responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Front Desk Operations. Serve as primary contact for phone and email inquiries and receive and welcome visitors to Beth Meyer Synagogue.
  • Vendor Supervision. Engage vendors to repair and modernize Beth Meyer Synagogue’s offices, facilities, and grounds. Schedule service delivery and supervise vendors on-site.
  • Accounts Payable. Implement protocols for processing receipt of vendor invoices and issuing and stopping payment as required. Track recurring bills, such as utilities.
  • Reconciliation. Reconcile Beth Meyer Synagogue’s financial records with bank and investment statements and payment processing software.
  • Budget Operations. Track planned financial transactions against actual transactions. Report and analyze significant variances as they arise for the Executive Director and other fiscal managers.
  • Facilities Use Coordination. Process requests for facilities rentals (e.g., lifecycle moments, Jewish Federation of Greater Raleigh events); issue fees and organize staffing.
  • Inventory Management. Manage inventory of office and custodial supplies and receive and sort shipments. Organize and beautify mailroom and reception areas.
  • Human Resources Administration. Support the Executive Director to implement procedures for people management (e.g., inputting payroll journal entry, updating work documents).

Qualifications:

  1. 1-3 years of work experience is/are required.
  2. Basic knowledge of Judaism and experience with bookkeeping are pluses.

Compensation and Benefits:

  1. The base salary range for the Office Manager job is $42,000 - $46,000.
  2. The Office Manager is eligible to enroll in group medical and dental insurance plans after thirty days of employment. Beth Meyer Synagogue will pay 75% of the Office Manager’s premiums and 50% of premiums for qualified dependents.
  3. Employees working at least 30 hours per week can participate in a retirement plan. Beth Meyer Synagogue will contribute a dollar-for-dollar match up to 2% of the Office Manager’s salary one year after the employee’s start date.
  4. The base vacation leave award for the Office Manager is two weeks. The Office Manager earns pay on office holidays. Leave is also allowed for several other reasons (e.g., caring for a loved one, mourning) as described in Beth Meyer Synagogue’s employee handbook.
  5. Reduced Beth Meyer Preschool tuition is available for this job.
  6. Funds for training and continued professional learning are available for the Office Manager and are disbursable at the Executive Director’s discretion.
