Uri L'Tzedek Job Opportunity: Director of National Advocacy & Leadership Programs
Position Overview:
Uri L'Tzedek (ULT) is an Orthodox social justice organization guided by Torah values and dedicated to combating suffering and oppression. Through education, leadership development, and direct action, ULT empowers the Jewish community to create a more just world.
We are seeking a Director of National Advocacy & Leadership Programs to join our growing team. This role will combine back-end operations with front-facing leadership responsibilities, including overseeing fellowships, classes, and advocacy initiatives. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong organizational skills, a passion for social justice through a Torah lens, and the ability to manage both administrative and programmatic responsibilities.
Expanding Our Advocacy in Washington, D.C.:
This role will spearhead ULT’s advocacy efforts in Washington, D.C., ensuring that an Orthodox Jewish voice is represented in critical conversations around social justice. Responsibilities include:
- Establishing and managing partnerships with policymakers, faith leaders, and advocacy organizations.
- Developing and implementing advocacy initiatives that align with ULT’s mission.
- Representing ULT in relevant coalitions, legislative discussions, and community engagement efforts.
Key Details:
- Compensation: $50,000 annually, with growth potential based on development and fundraising successes.
- Location: Remote, but must be based in the greater Washington, D.C., area.
- Hours: Full-time, with flexibility as the role and organization evolve.
Responsibilities:
Administrative & Operational Tasks:
- Manage donor communications, including thank-you letters and tracking contributions.
- Oversee social media strategy and content creation.
- Draft and distribute bi-weekly newsletters.
- Maintain and update ULT’s website.
- Record and upload ULT programs to YouTube, podcasts, and other platforms.
- Design promotional graphics using Canva for events and campaigns.
- Handle event marketing, logistics, and outreach.
- Maintain relationships with Jewish social justice partners.
- Support grant writing and fundraising efforts.
- Assist with hiring and recruitment processes.
Programmatic & Leadership Responsibilities:
- Lead fellowships, educational programs, and advocacy initiatives.
- Develop and refine fellowship curricula.
- Recruit participants for fellowships and leadership programs.
- Identify and engage potential speakers and community partners.
- Promote ULT’s programs through various platforms and outreach efforts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Strong organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to problem-solve, particularly with technology and digital tools.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with Orthodox Jewish culture and Torah study.
- Preferred: 1-2 years of nonprofit work experience.
- Preferred: 2+ years of social justice engagement.
- Experience with Canva, Mailchimp, and website management tools is a plus.
