Job Summary: To oversee KI's religious school and family engagement programs, to instill a knowledge and love of Judaism and Jewish heritage in our students, and to attract families to be active participants in our synagogue community.
Team: Functional Supervisor, Rabbi Shoshanah Tornberg with the KI Personnel Committee as the candidates HR Supervisors. The candidate supervises the religious school teachers and B. Mitzvah tutors and is supported by the Religious School Committee, composed of an experienced educator and several religious school parents who help determine educational goals and programs, a conduit for parental involvement, and set opertaional policies for the religious school.
Time Comitment and Location: Part-time / Est. 24 Hours per week. On-site tasks include Religious School Sunday mornings from 9:00am to 12:00pm, September to May; occasional attendance required at Friday night Shabbat services and/or Saturday morning B. Mitzvah services when corresponding to job duties. Teen program meets every other Sunday from 12:30 - 3:30pm. Hybrid tasks may be done remotely when feasible and include preparation and administrative work, electronic communications, teleconferences, etc.
Job Requirements: Administer and manage day-to-day operation of the religious school. Supervise and manage school staff. Foster a positive learning enviroment; select and implement the curriculum (in coordination with Rabbi); create varied learning expereinces and programs. Communicate effectively with parents and families; be the face of the school. Work in partnership with the synagogue's Religious School Commitee to implement policies and coordinate goals for the school culture.
Qualities of an Ideal Candidate: Experienced Jewish educator with strong communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills. Is enthusiastic, creative, responsive, and flexible. Able to maintain confidentiality.
