Description

Job purpose:
To provide administrative support for clergy, and be a part of the administrative team of the synagogue.

Overview of Main Responsibilities

Clergy Support
Manage Clergy calendars
Assist Clergy with written communications
Update member information related to the responsibilities supported by the Clergy Assistant (e.g., recording births and deaths).
Provide administrative support to the clergy
Provide support for life-cycle events (e.g., weddings, births, funerals, etc.)
Manage all Yahrzeit functions

Communications
Layout, design and production of congregational announcements
Content collection and production of various written materials
Assist with the online delivery of various programming (e.g., supporting virtual worship logistics, zoom links, etc.

Programs
Provide logistical and administrative support for synagogue programs and events as assigned
Create visual T'fillah in power point
Support the B’nei Mitzvah program by preparing B’nei Mitzvah certificates, the B’nei mitzvah tzedakah program B’nei Mitzvah scheduling.
Recruit, assign and support volunteers for specific programs

Front Office
Support the front desk as needed during breaks and absences
As part of the Administrative team, staff part of the High Holy Day program and Gala event.

Education, training and experience
Two years office experience

Knowledge/skills
Demonstrates excellent communication skills and sensitivity in working with people.
Excellent oral and written skills.
Computer expertise and demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe or In-design, basic database management, internet and social networking.
Must maintain strict confidentiality.
Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks, and prioritize demands.
Flexible, able to meet changing work needs and demands
Excellent organizational skills
Familiarity with Jewish customs and rituals, synagogue life. The ability to read Hebrew is desirable.
Plans and utilizes time effectively and independently
Ability to work collaboratively with staff and synagogue volunteers.
A sense of humor and a passion for learning are essential
Approaches challenges with creativity and equanimity

 

Salary24.00 - 27.00 Hour
